Caravan Salon: Opel shows e-camper based on the Zafira-e Life

The Zafira-e Life, Opel’s fully electric and spacious van, offers plenty of room for up to seven passengers and is thus predestined to be equipped as a camper. The company from Rüsselsheim is now presenting such a variant together with its partner, the vehicle and outdoor specialist Crosscamp, at this year’s Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf from August 26 to September 4.

Wide range of applications

With the prototype of the zero-emission version of the “Crosscamp Flex,” the urban camper specialists demonstrate the Zafira’s great variability and leisure suitability. Possible uses include trips with friends for a few nights in the countryside, with mountain bikes in the luggage to the next trails or concert visits in the city center.

Longer weekend trips are made possible by the 75 kWh battery pack installed in the underbody to save space. This allows those who enjoy traveling in the standard Opel Zafira-e Life to cover up to 322 kilometers locally emission-free according to WLTP1. At a fast charging station with 100 kW direct current, the battery can be refilled to 80 percent in around 48 minutes. To conserve the drive battery, an additional 95 Ah capacity superstructure battery supplies the consumers on board, such as lights, cool box or USB socket for charging smartphones, cameras or other electronic devices.

Extensive camper equipment

The equipment includes many practical features such as front seats that can be rotated by 180 degrees, kitchen block, cupboards and sink or gas stove as well as integrated fresh and waste water tanks. The bench seat in the rear can be converted into a practical double bed in just a few easy steps; a pop-up roof provides space for two more sleeping berths, so that a total of up to four people can dream in the Crosscamp Flex in the great outdoors.

Variable interior design in the electric Crosscamp Flex

To make the journey not only comfortable but also safe, numerous assistance systems are on board. These include front collision warning as well as lane and traffic sign assist with intelligent cruise control, drowsiness warning and emergency brake assist.

The battery-electric Crosscamp Flex will supplement the diesel-powered variants from 2023. The brand also plans to offer the electric Urban Camper as the Crosscamp Lite in future.
