The Norwegian brand Aclima is characterized by its innovative and sustainable approaches in the outdoor industry. Founded in 1939 by Eivind Johansen in Drammen, the family business has developed over more than eight decades into a leading manufacturer of functional wool clothing. The roots go back to the first wool soles, which were manufactured under the name Tuna Textil AS. In 1998, the company was renamed Aclima, and since then, the brand has established itself as a name for sustainable and high-quality wool products.
With this philosophy, Aclima is not only a reliable partner for outdoor enthusiasts, but also for professional organizations such as the police, fire department, and military forces. The products of this Norwegian traditional company are durable, versatile, and withstand the harsh conditions of nature. Aclima shows that sustainable textile production can be a future-oriented vision – and that without compromising on quality and performance.

Products
WoolNet® from the outdoor specialist Aclima
Aclima's WoolNet® products are perfect for intensive activities such as ski touring and expeditions. Thanks to the large air pockets, they offer excellent insulation and ventilation when not covered, in combination with other layers. The WoolNet Original Crewneck is lightweight, reinforced at the elbows, and features elastic ribbing at the shoulders, ideal for comfortable use with backpacks.

Useful to know: Aclima Layering System information box
Aclima has developed its own wool layering system: The innermost layer, which is closest to the skin, is fitted and comfortable and forms the basis of the Aclima wool layering system. This first wool layer isolates and transports sweat outwards, for both summer and winter activities. The second wool layer absorbs moisture from the inner layers and provides additional insulation, and the third wool layer provides even more protection from cold and wind.
Aclima's StreamWool Collection
Aclima offers the perfect equipment for all winter adventures with its StreamWool Collection. Whether it's snowshoeing, skiing, trekking, high-altitude hiking, or winter walks – StreamWool is made for any outdoor activity in winter.
Thanks to the innovative knitting technique, the products are wearable on both sides and adapt to the respective needs. The "stream-like" side, which is created by a special knitting technique, offers additional insulation, while the flat knitting side ensures a comfortable feel on the skin.
The hollow, streamlined "channels" in the fabric create air pockets, which provide extra warmth. Wear the flat knitting side inwards, feel warm and comfortable. Turn it over, get even better insulation – perfect for particularly cold days.

Made from 99% (1% elastane) high-quality merino wool, StreamWool products are not only comfortable to wear, but also breathable and odor-inhibiting.
Sustainability as a guiding principle
Aclima's principle: highest functionality combined with deep respect for the environment. All products are designed in Norway and manufactured in the company's own, carefully managed production facilities in Estonia. The entire value chain is consistently focused on environmental awareness. Particular attention is paid to the origin and processing of the wool. Aclima sources its wool from merino sheep in New Zealand, with all suppliers subject to strict animal welfare standards to ensure ethical animal welfare.

Sustainability for Aclima means more than just environmental protection: The company has implemented a well-thought-out recycling program, in which production waste is efficiently converted into new products. In doing so, dyeing is consciously avoided to save resources. This circular economy is a perfect example of how responsible production and first-class outdoor clothing can go hand in hand – and that innovation through sustainability can be constantly reborn.
Aclima's ReBorn Collection made from recycled wool
With the ReBorn Collection, Aclima sets a strong sign for sustainable innovation in the textile industry. The ReBorn Shirt is a prime example of how waste can be turned into valuable products. Made from recycled wool scraps from its own production, the shirt consistently continues the idea of reuse. The colors of the material are created purely from the combination of the remaining fabric pieces – a conscious rejection of dyeing, which saves both water and chemicals.
The ReBorn Shirt combines functionality and style and is equally suitable for mountain adventures as for everyday urban life. The companions of the collection – the Terry Pullover, the Terry Jacket and the Lumber Jacket – give new life to the remaining wool fibers from the Aclima factory in Estonia. The limited availability of the collection makes it particularly exclusive: The production volume is based on the available material and emphasizes the philosophy of environmentally friendly resource management.

What is particularly noteworthy is that Aclima also pays attention to the smallest details. The synthetic fibers used to improve durability also consist of recycled materials. Instead of plastic buttons, sustainable buttons made from coconuts are used, and even the seams are made from recycled materials. This makes the ReBorn Collection a perfect example of how high-quality outdoor clothing and thoughtful resource conservation can go hand in hand – and that innovation through sustainability can be constantly reborn.
