From September 12th to 14th, each from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, a special mushroom exhibition will take place in the Winter Hall of the Botanical Garden in Munich-Nymphenburg. The days before the start of the exhibition and immediately before opening, the members of the Munich Mushroom Club e.V. are diligently collecting representatives of the local mushroom flora, identifying them, and presenting them fresh, embedded in their natural environment, such as on pine needles, leaves, moss, and soil. This "Fresh Mushroom Exhibition" has been very popular for years.
The exhibition alone is not enough; a lot of information about mushrooms is also provided, both about the exhibited ones and in general. This is not limited to a culinary consultation by the attending club experts, but rather, the focus is on conveying knowledge about the ecological importance of mushrooms – which is particularly relevant in a time when knowledge of natural relationships is shrinking as much as biodiversity itself. What is the mutual dependence between mushrooms and trees, what role do mushrooms play in the "Woodwide Web", how do they function in the natural cycle of matter?
In addition, mushrooms brought by visitors are also examined, and tips for careful collection and preparation are given. This creates a kind of "all-inclusive mushroom experience", in which children are also not neglected. Their creativity is given ample space, so they can, for example, make their own "mushrooms" from modeling clay and much more. Inspiring children with ecology is a service to the future, which is understood here.
The entrance fees are a moderate 6.50 euros, reduced to 4.50 euros for students and schoolchildren. Children under twelve have free admission.
